Master of Modernism

Mies van der Rohe

German-American architect is one of the pioneers of the modernist movement, devising in a paper sketch the world’s first glass skyscraper and practically inventing open-plan spaces.

The Bauhaus director was one of the world's best-known architects. Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, simply Mies to the entire world of design, is one of architecture's most towering figures.

Clear design and individual lighting: the LUM floor lamp

The luminaire is formally reduced to a minimum, elegant and versatile. The product offers many technical refinements: high efficiency in terms of light output, very low power consumption and warm reading light.

It can be switched on and off with an automatic touch function, is dimmable and remembers the last setting. It also has an automatic sleep function and offers a NightLight in the dark, which only covers the frame in soft light.

During his time at the Bauhaus, Marcel Breuer experimented with steel and tubular steel, a new and promising material for furniture. The close interchange with the aircraft manufacturer Junkers in Dessau accelerated the development process. His first designs included the set tables B 9 and various shelves and pieces of side furniture.
