After almost 100 years, the Hidden Treasures project has rediscovered typeface sketches and previously unpublished letter fragments from the legendary Bauhaus School of Design. From this material, five typefaces were digitally completed and revised by young type designers (in cooperation with their international colleges and under the direction of Erik Spiekermann). As part of this cooperation between Adobe and Bauhaus Dessau, the publication of the typefaces was linked to design competitions. Call for entries № 2 set the task of using the fonts published so far in the context of a free poster design that deals thematically with the Bauhaus.
The basic idea for the competition entry was to explore the themes "100 Years of Bauhaus" as well as "Typography and Bauhaus" in a series of five designs, all of which draw from the same theme and motif complex, but which then find their individual perspective in the course of the design discussions. A series that can also offer a spectrum of different perspectives on the characteristics of the reconstructed typefaces of the Hidden Treasures project should be submitted to the competition.
The design "Hommage à Hidetaka Yamasaki" convinced the jury and won the competition.
