Gunta Stölzl

Gunta Stölzl's affiniteit met weven en textiel kwam haar zo goed van pas dat zij de leiding kreeg over de weefwerkplaats in het Bauhaus in Dessau, eerst als werkmeester en uiteindelijk als hoofd.

Gunta Stölzl studeerde decoratieve schilderkunst, glasschilderkunst, keramiek, kunstgeschiedenis en stijl aan de Kunstgewerbeschule.

Designer Carpets

De weefwerkplaats was een van de meest succesvolle en productieve werkplaatsen van het Bauhaus, die zowel met traditionele handwerktechnieken als met industriële methoden werkt.

De invloed van verschillende Bauhaus-meesters is zichtbaar in het tapijtpatroon. De vaak gebruikte basisvorm van het tapijt is het voorwerp van creatieve experimenten en het belangrijkste instrument om de werking van de primaire kleuren te testen.
