Gunta Stölzl

Gunta Stölzl’s affinity for weaving and textiles stood her in such good stead that she was placed in charge of the weaving workshop at the Bauhaus in Dessau, first as a master of works and ultimately as its head.

Gunta Stölzl studied decorative painting, glass painting, ceramics, art history and style at the Kunstgewerbeschule.

The influence of various Bauhaus masters is visible in the carpets pattern. The frequently employed basic shape of the is the object of creative experimentation and the main instrument for testing the effect of the primary colours.
